Changing the Litter
Ok this is the worst part of taking care of them....so thank you!
They have their litters changed every other day, so check the schedule to know if you need to do it.
The Process:
1. Empty litter into white bin.
2. Rinse the litter pan in the bathtub, you can use the shovel to scrape if needed.
3. Fling out excess water from the pan and fill with 2.5 scoops of litter.
4. Put rim back on and fill one end with hay.
** When the white bin is full, tie up the bag and take it out to our green bin #3 in parking lot **
Poop & Hay Everywhere
It is natural for rabbits to roll and sleep in their hay. Tiger loves this and will pull his hay out of his basket all over his cage. As we won't be their to vacuum every couple of days it will get messy. You will think our living room looks like a barn. It will. And that is perfectly ok, because they love it!
But the poop! Yep they are likely going to leave the pellet poop all over their cages. This is happening because these two dorks are still vying for dominance despite their unending love for one another. Essentially that poop is screaming 'Mine!' If you dare you can pick them up and throw them in their litter, otherwise you can just leave them.
Poop as an Indicator of Health
You should see nice piles of round darkish poop in their litters every day.
Not Pooping: If you notice they are not pooping, no piles in the litter, then they might have a block, which can be very serious. This combined with not eating and lethargic behaviour requires us to be contacted immediately if you can't reach us and it continues for more than a day call Dr. Luckwaldt.
Wet Poop: Wetish poop that looks like blackberries or diareaah are signs that their digestive balance is off. Please contact us immediately and if you can't reach us and it continues for more than a day call Dr. Luckwaldt.
